Every great site starts off with a great web design. For most people this is a hard and lengthily process to go through. One of the best ways to get some ideas going and find some inspiration is surfing the internet. Spending some time surfing around and looking at different sites can be beneficial to your design. You can pick out the good, the bad and the ugly designs and elements. Here are some great web design examples.

Tuts+ Network is the main page for all their different websites. They have a site devoted to different multimedia sections. Including: Photoshop, Web Development & Design, Illustrator, Music, Videos and Sound Tutorials and Articles. The different sites are well organized, easy and color coordinated.

Veerle's Blog

Veerle’s Blog has a bit of everything from tutorials, articles and what’s in the news. This site has great balance of colors and a really nice vector illustration for a header.

N.Design Studio is a company / blog that post a bit of everything on web development. I love this blogs header. It has an explosion of colors and design that jumps out and grabs you.

Duirwaigh Studios

Duirwaigh Studios is probably the most unique design example I have found surfing around on the internet. It has unique illustrations, colors and feel, but keeps everything well organized and usable.

W3C Schools

If you have done web development, most likely you have been here. W3C School's current design has a nice and clean approach. This site has tons of content and information. Their design helps increase the usability of their site.

Fred Maya

Fed Maya’s site is a portfolio site that showcases his recent work and other things. This site is a "dark" site but has great balance and colors to achieve a great experience for the user.

NewEgg.com

Most e-commerce sites are a nightmare to use, but NewEgg is probably the best one out there. It has great search functions, navigation and a clean design.

Metal Call-Out

Metal Call-Out is a grungy and dirty site example that has a clean and easy layout. The colors blend together nicely, but keeping plenty of whitespace so the user doesn’t get lost in all the text.

Newism has a great color tone through the site. Not to mention the clean images and transparent effect on the content area. Well organized and attractive.

These are just a few great web designs that are live on the internet. I'm sure there are better ones that I haven't found, but either way surf around and see if you can find some great ideas and inspiration.

I only know one fact about web design: it's becoming more and more challenging and that makes it hard for the wide majority of website owners to compete into "grabbing" new users. I am really into uncommon designs because these are some of the few design types that can still catch the user attention. What makes an web design successful and unique? What do people respond better to? These are questions we should answer ourselves before launching into web design.

Yes web designing is becoming tough task these days. New technology and ideas makes it difficult. I also use new tools and technology for web design.
